Level Up your hot cocoa!
The first day of winter is the shortest (and darkest) day of the year, but we know a surefire way to brighten up anyone’s mood: a cup of hot cocoa! Since our celebrations are smaller this year, why not go the extra mile and try real drinking chocolate rather than the powdered stuff?
What you’ll need:
- 1 package of drinking chocolate**
- hot water, plus optional unsweetened oat milk (or similar alternative)
- blender or mixing bowl & whisk
- cinnamon sticks or star anise for garnish
Follow the directions for chocolate to hot water ratio (we’re using 6 squares of drinking chocolate for every 8 oz of hot water)
Combine in a blender until frothy OR combine in a mixing bowl and whisk until blended and frothy. Here’s a video explaining how incorporating air makes it taste better!
Garnish with cinnamon (whole sticks or ground, sprinkled on top), star anise, grated nutmeg or dark chocolate shavings.
If you’re introducing these rich flavours to a new palate, you can dilute their drink with unsweetened oat milk or a similar alternative.
