Over the past 20 years we’ve changed our menus to be more appealing for everyone, from the partners we work with to the kids we serve. This includes not only our meals and snacks, but our colour schemes and templates as well. Join us in looking back at the evolution of RFRK menus!
One of our oldest snack menus from 2005 shows our dedication to real food, but you can see we hadn’t developed our full identity just yet. Since 2005, our menu items have evolved to accommodate dietary and allergy-related needs and now include more globally inspired meals.
Here you’ll see one of our oldest colour schemes from a lunch and snack menu from late 2006. Compared to our current menus, it’s like night and day! Also, take notice of certain ingredients, like quinoa. In 2006, quinoa was relatively unfamiliar, yet we took note of its nutritional goodness and rising popularity!
Step back into the winter of 2011 and see how we started to adopt the colour scheme that reflects our menus today. Also, take note of some classic recipes, like our Chickpea Chowder, Beef & Bean Chili, and Chili Chili Bang Bang! Around this time, we also started releasing our menus on a monthly basis vs. every six months.
Jump forward to a lunch menu from July 2017. It’s easier to read with this improved calendar format, and our Real Food Promise has been moved to the left side to make it more compact.
Today’s menu (May 2024) brings us up to speed! Check out the updated tagline of “fuelling healthy futures” (has a nice ring to it, don’t you think?). We’ve also added minor updates and a burst of colour to our Real Food Promise. Most importantly, our food reflects our journey and our dedication to dietary needs and diverse meals even more than it did when we first started!
