Binny’s Diwali, written by Thrity Umrigar and illustrated by Nidhi Chanani, is a heartwarming story that beautifully depicts the magical festival of Diwali, observed on October 31st this year.
You’ll step right into Binny’s shoes while sharing this book with your kids. She’s nervously enthusiastic to present Diwali to her class’s Show & Tell and teach them about its special traditions, with much of that joy coming from the delicious treats she brings—sweet pedas and crispy jalebis!
Unfortunately, stage fright takes hold and Binny becomes shy and struggles to proceed. With the help of her kind teacher, Binny’s inspiration is ignited yet again and she becomes the dynamic storyteller she has always been. But we don’t want to spoil too much, so be sure to check it out to learn all about her presentation.
This lovely story, paired with vibrant illustrations, is a celebration of food, family, and the Festival of Lights and we think it’s the perfect way to cozy up with your family this fall.
