Meet John Lavigne, who first joined Real Food For Real Kids in July 2017.
What do you do at Real Food for Real Kids?
I’m a Cook Team Lead & Trainer. I lead the Cook Team, and train new members of the cook staff on the evening shift. I train them on safe equipment usage, and recipe prepping/cooking. Being a Team Lead, I also help with document building like SOPs (standard operating procedures) to train our production staff.
Some challenges we face on the Cook Team come from food supply issues, or equipment malfunctions. Really, just delays in general can be difficult, but during my time at RFRK I’ve seen that as a team, we can pull through and get back on track.
Why do you work for RFRK? Or what do you love about working for RFRK?
I like the people I work with, and what we do as a company. I look forward to the growth of RFRK.
If you were a superhero, who would you be and why?
Venom. I played as him a lot in Marvel vs Capcom, and I have a few of the comics.
Favourite RFRK meal and why?
Lentil Shepherd’s Pie. It has a really great flavor. The spices from the filling, along with the sweet potato layer is top notch.
What are some activities you enjoy outside of work?
I love card games! Yu-Gi-Oh! Magic the Gathering, and Lorcana are the games I play weekly at my home with friends and family. I have piles, and piles of cards. And I even go to local tournaments when I have the time.
Do you wish you could play an active part in feeding kids healthy, nutritious & delicious food?
