that’s how we roll!

Big thanks to Roll This Way for a great team building afternoon of sushi making. Some of the RFRK team learned how to prepare nigiri (hand-pressed sushi), maki (classic rolls), uramaki (inside-out rolls), and temaki (hand rolls) with expert instruction! 🍣There was even a prize for the most creative plate presentation.
Most of us are long time sushi eaters, first time makers. Practicing these new techniques (especially the rolling!) reminded us that food education is a lifelong journey. The more we learn, the more we can inspire the next generations to build a lifetime of healthy habits and appreciation for real food.

If you’re looking for ideas for your next family outing, we definitely recommend a kid-friendly version of any cooking or food preparation class that calls out to you. It’s one of those educational activities that blends creativity & teamwork while enjoying something yummy, so it’s a win-win all around!
Fun fact: Inside-out rolls (uramaki) were created to appeal to North American diners by putting the rice on the outside, making sushi feel a little more familiar.
