Quinoa from Ontario’s next door neighbours!

Quebec quinoa for RFRK, is, the quintessential quinoa, traveling a short distance before it reaches our kitchens & thousands of kids’ lunches, and that’s something to celebrate!
Often called the “gold of the Incas,” quinoa has been grown in South America for thousands of years. Thanks to years of testing & dedication, farmers across Canada have mastered growing quinoa in our climate since the early 1990s, giving us a true Canadian option.

This whole grain is a complete protein, with all nine essential amino acids, naturally gluten-free, and has fibre, iron, potassium, and B vitamins. Its low glycemic index helps kids keep steady energy throughout their busy days.
Our Quebec-grown quinoa is also naturally saponin-free. Saponin is the compound that coats some types of imported quinoa and can give it a slightly bitter taste. Our quinoa keeps its outer layer intact without it, letting the natural flavour shine and making it more kid-taste-bud approved.
Fun fact: Quinoa loves cool weather, which is why it grows high up in the Andes in countries like Peru & Bolivia and in Canada! Even though the climates are worlds apart, both places give this amazing whole grain the cooler temperatures it needs.
We’re so proud to serve quality, Quebec-grown quinoa (say that five times fast!). It supports farmers, strengthens Canada’s local food systems, and nourishes kids with every bite.
