Dear Real Food Kitchen: What is RFRK’s take on “kids’ food”?
The concept of kids’ food (or baby food) is a marketing technique used by big food corporations to influence parents to purchase food products marketed to kids for the sole purpose of making a profit.
RFRK believes kids’ food is just a smaller portion of what adults are eating – with a funnier name!
Exposing kids at a young age to real foods with a variety of flavours and textures, allows them to expand their palate and nutritional IQ, to become curious eaters, and to enjoy foods from around the world.
At RFRK, kids’ favourites include Real Food dishes like Sri Lankan Chicken, quinoa, Chickpea Tajine, Beet & Carrot Salad, Mac Chick n’ Cheese, Marinara Beef Meatballs, Bruschetta, and Napa Cabbage & Spinach Salad with Maple Samurai Vinaigrette. Outside of the Real Food Kitchen, we’re also fans of this family-friendly recipe from Dr. Perlmutter – Spaghetti Squash & Meatballs.
