In honour of Black History Month, we’re thrilled to be sharing our Jerk Chicken recipe! We adapted this iconic dish inspired by Jamaican roots to be mild and kid-friendly, and as a result it has been a star on our menu for over a decade!
We love celebrating the global diversity of our city, so we’re excited to be highlighting food from our vibrant Caribbean community. Between the late 1950’s into the early 1980’s, Toronto welcomed tens of thousands of Caribbean immigrants, who brought with them a wealth of rich culture, including amazing food, music & traditions. The Caribbean islands are quite the melting pot of people, and that is reflected in the numerous spices found in recipes like Jerk Chicken. There’s a lot of them, but it’s worth the effort!

Famously aromatic, our version is flavourful without the spicy heat that is often associated with this dish, making way for an easy introduction to young palates. Plus it’s a fantastic recipe for preparing in big batches. You’ll have easy, tasty meals ready for the busy days ahead. Not to mention t’s super fun to make your own spice blend — you’ll feel like you just levelled up your cooking game!
We hope you try our kid-friendly version at home, but if you’re looking for the real deal, check out these amazing jerk chicken spots in the GTA:
