World Food Day celebrates the founding of the United Nations Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 1945, which has increased awareness of global food security issues and works to support and inspire solutions to combat hunger and contribute to peace in high-conflict areas.
This year’s FOODS theme highlights the right to foods for a better life and a better future, and the importance of ensuring diversity, nutrition, affordability, accessibility and safety in global food systems. With over 2.8 billion people unable to afford a healthy diet, malnutrition is a growing issue, intensified by crises such as conflict, climate change and economic shocks. Many people rely on unhealthy or limited food options due to cost or lack of access. Transforming agrifood systems can help address hunger, reduce environmental impact, and build resilient, inclusive communities.
At RFRK, we share this dedication to healthy & accessible food, have seen the impact it can make on a child’s life, and support widespread positive change in how food is grown, prepared and shared. By providing kids with nutritious, diverse meals, we support a brighter food future and stick by our mission of enabling & inspiring a lifetime of healthy eating.
