spooky snack attack!
Today we’re exploring some Halloween snack ideas that give your little ones a break from the candy & chocolate. These frightening boo bites are not only a healthy alternative, they’re the perfect opportunity for family bonding and help introduce your little ones to the creative side of cooking and the joy of making your own snacks.
These creepy carved peppers & tangerine pumpkins were made by a partner centre of ours for Halloween one year. The kids were excited to dig in!
Check out this pumpkin veggie tray! Perfect as an appetizer for the whole family, you can mix and match your fave veggies to build the pumpkin.
More tangerine pumpkins, featuring banana ghosts! These freaky fruits are ready in mere minutes and make a great refreshing snack plate. You can use pieces of cucumber or celery for the pumpkin stems, and dark chocolate chips for the ghost faces.
Speaking of tangerines, all you need for these spooky spiders are some candy eyeballs, but they’re optional and it still looks like a spider without them!
Another great snack-etizer idea— this kooky veggie tray is fashioned to look like the iconic candy corn!
These horrifying apple monsters give new meaning to “you’re the apple of my eye!” All you need is some of your favourite seed butter, edible eyeballs, pumpkin or sunflower seeds, and sliced cheddar.
Skip the eyeballs to make these gruesome apple teeth. Simply use seed butter and pumpkin or sunflower seeds in between two apple slices.
Why let pumpkins hog all the jack-o’-lantern fun? Try this eerie watermelon jack-o’-lantern that explodes into a freaky fruit salad.
This savoury snack of guacamole stuffed cherry tomato eyes are a great way to introduce your little ones to olives. They really do give a perfect spooky eye effect!
These ghastly garden fingers may be the easiest Halloween snack yet. Use hummus or another favourite dip to top off your carrot claws.
For some phantom pear pals, simply peel your pears and use whatever you like to make their face – from raisins to blueberries to dark chocolate, it all works. Try them poached or fresh!
We hope you enjoy making these healthy Halloween snacks with the whole family! Be sure to let us know in the comments if your kids have a favourite!
