Meet Amanda Kratochvil, who joined Real Food For Real Kids in September, 2025.
What do you do at Real Food for Real Kids?
As a Menu Planner on the Food & Service Innovation team, I help develop and maintain RFRK’s seasonal menus. I collaborate with teams across RFRK to create menus that are nutritious, varied, cost-effective, and operationally aligned. My role also includes incorporating client feedback to keep our menus fresh, balanced, and enjoyable for the children who enjoy our meals each day.
What are some of the challenges you face?
One of the biggest challenges while planning the menu is balancing nutrition, client feedback, cost, sourcing, and operational needs. Even a small menu change can affect several teams, so strong communication and collaboration are essential.
What part of the job do you enjoy the most?
I really enjoy using my nutrition education and background to positively shape our menus and help children build a healthy relationship with food from an early age. It is rewarding to know that the meals we plan make a meaningful difference in children’s nutrition, well-being, and lifelong eating habits.
If you had to describe yourself as a meal or dish, what would you be?
I would be a lasagna as I have many different layers and bring a mix of qualities and experience to everything I do.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
My superpower would be to fly! I’d love to soar above the clouds, take in the views, and see the world from a different perspective. I think it would be the perfect mix of peaceful and adventurous.
What’s your favourite RFRK meal or recipe & why?
My favourite RFRK meal is the Sunshine Dahl paired with raita. I love the vibrant colour and how the cool, creamy raita brings it all together for a comforting and delicious meal.
What are some activities you enjoy outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy being active at the gym, playing team sports like hockey, softball, and volleyball, and skiing in the winter. I also love spending time with friends and family and enjoying some good food together.
