Meet Kadeem McLeod, who first joined Real Food For Real Kids in December 2022.
What do you do at Real Food For Real Kids?
I am a Super Driver. Our job is to deliver the delicious hot lunches and/or snacks to the adorable children at all our partner centres, as well as perform other logistics tasks for the company and maintain the well being of certain areas. Some challenges we face are with traffic/construction around the city, weather, and navigation. But for the most part, the job has been laid out and made to be performed in a seamless way.
Why do you work for RFRK? Or what do you love about working for RFRK?
Originally I got the job because I wanted to get a temporary job outside my career/vocation to take a break, but now Real Food For Real Kids has given me a new perspective on life a bit. I love the freedom and positivity in and around the job and all the genuine people I’ve come to meet. Seeing the kids everyday really does spark my want for kids. Hahaha, more than expected surprisingly since I’ve wanted kids since I could remember.
If you were a superhero, who would you be and why?
If I were a superhero I would be telepathic / be Professor Xavier X. I like the idea of possessing that power because I would aim to use it to figure out how to help people and all the many ways we can sometimes miscommunicate our thoughts. I also think it would help me to understand/discern some flaws I may have more easily and quickly so that I could grow in those ways if I chose to.
Favourite RFRK meal and why?
Groovy Gravy with Meatballs, or Beef Meatballs. I’m a sucker for a good ol’ classic spaghetti and meatballs. Reminds me of childhood and it’s so easy and tasty!
What are some activities you enjoy outside of work?
Skateboard, learning to play guitar again— any instrument. Reading, photography, art, food, hiking. Anything new and exciting!
