may 20th is world bee day! 🐝 check out our honey harvest

We’re hooked on homegrown honey! RFRK partners with George Brown College Hospitality and Culinary Arts Professor and Ontario Beekeeper, Patrick Secord, to host a buzzing bunch of busy beehives. One of the sweetest perks is when we get dozens of jars of hyper-local honey to share amongst the staff, all thanks to our bee friends!
Fun fact: Hyper-local foods come from a very small geographical area, like neighbourhoods. In our case, it comes from our very own backyard!

Each jar is filled with smooth, golden honey, one of nature’s most delicious gifts, known for its indefinite shelf life when stored properly at room temperature (away from excess heat and sunlight). It may crystallize over time, but it’s still perfectly safe to eat. These adorable jars are a small but meaningful way to enjoy a treat that’s both local and straight from the bee-loved source.
Bees really are nature’s sweet saviours! To learn more about how important it is to cherish them, check out the buzz about RFRK’s bees & The Thing About Bees by Shabazz Larkin, a great kids book recommendation.
